Sometimes called Red Bill, The Pied Oyster Catcher only breeds in the South Island of NZ. It is usually seen in large flocks on sandy beaches and mudflats where it probes for sea creatures with its powerful bill. The birds are strictly monogamous and pairs remain together for life.
